Welcome to this session of grand rounds, a collection of posts I have discovered in the blogosphere and have found of interest and hope you do too.
This offering of Grand Rounds looks at more articles from around the web that address the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) on our lives and careers.
I think most people would agree that when it comes to job security, being a physician has to be pretty high up there on the list.
That makes the news that physicians getting furloughed even more shocking because of the global pandemic..
I myself have not been immune from this as my radiology partner and I decided to self-furlough due to a dramatic decrease in patient studies being performed.
Smart Money MD also describes the plight of some of our colleagues in, “Furloughed Physicians During the COVID-19 Pandemic.”
Along the same lines, Investing Doc gives a heartfelt play by play of what has been happening to his Internal Medicine practice and some of the tough decisions he had to face in, “COVID-19 Effects and The Financial Changes To My Practice.”

Another financial precarious position is when you are first starting out building your own private practice.
Can you imagine the horror of just committing a large percentage of your hard earned money to start out a medical career only to have COVID-19 come around and shake your financial fundamentals to the core?
Well unfortunately this is exactly what happened to a plastic surgeon who was only 8 months into a private practice he established.
He shares his emotional and financial rollercoaster ride with his White Coat Investor post, “COVID-19 Takeaways From A New Medical Practice.”
Speaking of a bad sequence of return of risk in early retirement being one of the worst things that can happen to you, can you imagine retiring right before this pandemic hit?
Well one of our own did just that, the beloved Physician On FIRE.
So how has this pandemic impacted his foray into the early retiree life?
POF shares some insight on the Hippocratic Hustle podcast, “Physician On FIRE’s Pandemic Update.”
Sure we know that we need to practice good hygiene/hand washing techniques as well as wearing masks to prevent spread of COVID-19.
But that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Dennis Bethel MD, of NestEggRx gives tips on what else we should be doing to maintain our health and sanity in, “Coronavirus Pandemic: 4 Things You Can Do.”
[You may remember Dennis who gave an informative breakdown on Real Estate Syndication during his X-ray Beam Interview.]
Hope you enjoyed the reading material.
Have a great rest of the week.
